The Kalafut nunatak is a nunatak in Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It marks the southeastern end of the Haines Mountains in the Ford Ranges .
An initial mapping was made by scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941). The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after John Kalafut, a glaciologist at Byrd Station from 1966 to 1967 and from 1968 until 1969.
