Kalamaki ( Greek Καλαμάκι ( n. Sg. )) Is a coastal town in the south of the Greek island of Crete , four kilometers north of the better known tourist resort of Matala . As part of the village of Kamilari, it belongs to the municipality of Tymbaki in the municipality of Festos . In the last few decades the place has grown into a small tourist center and is considered a quiet alternative to Matala.

One kilometer east of Kalamaki on the road to Kamilari, near Palea Ekklisia (Παλαιά Εκκλησία 'Old Church') is the chapel of Evangelistria (Ευαγγελίστρια 'missionary' nickname of Mary ) It was built on the foundations of a temple of Artemis . Finds indicate that there was a settlement here in Greco-Roman times.
