Kalanos

Kalanos († 323 BC ), name or nickname of an ancient Indian sage, a gymnosophist . He probably accompanied Alexander the Great voluntarily in 326 BC. On his return from Taxila on the Indus . When the army reached Persis, Kalanos was sick and, seeing a slow waning before him, had decided to put an end to his life by immolating himself. Kalanos burned himself to complete his spiritual path in the face of the whole Macedonian army, probably at Susa . He had supposedly predicted the death of Alexander three months later.
