Kalasiris

Woman in Kalasiris ( 11th Dynasty )
The Kalasiris ( Greek καλάσιρις ) is in the costume studies of Ancient Egypt the name for the tank dress worn by women in the Old Kingdom or the shirt garment worn by both sexes from the New Kingdom . The Kalasiris was usually made of fine, pleated linen and was always sleeveless for men.
The name has been handed down to Herodotus as a fringed linen undergarment of the Egyptians. According to Democritus , the Kalasiris was also worn by Persians and Ionians . The name is probably related to the warrior class of the Kalasirieis .
