The California lobster ( Panulirus interruptus ) is a species of the lobster family .
The maximum body length of this species of lobster is 60 centimeters, making it one of the largest representatives of the genus Panulirus together with the ornamental lobster . However, most representatives of this species have an average body length of 30 centimeters.
The California lobster is widespread in the East Pacific and occurs there from the coast of California to the entire west coast of Mexico's Baja California . Within this region, the California lobster is one of the commercially significant lobsters.
