Kallynyk Andriyovych Mitjukow ( Ukrainian Каллиник Андрійович Мітюков , Russian Каллиник Андреевич Митюков Kallinik Andreyevich Mitjukow ; born July 22, jul. / 3. August  1823 greg. In Kiev , Kiev Governorate , Russian Empire ; † February 27 jul. / 11. March  1885 greg. ibid) was a Ukrainian professor of Roman law and, in 1865, rector at St. Vladimir University in Kiev.

Life

Kallynyk Mitjukow was born in Kiev in 1823 to a merchant family. He studied at the Kiev Theological Seminary and between 1841 and 1845 at the Law Faculty of St. Vladimir University.

From 1846 he worked as deputy head of the department of Roman law at St. Vladimir University, and in December 1847 he defended his dissertation for his diploma in civil law. In 1851 he received his doctorate in law and became an associate professor and in 1852 a full professor in the Department of Roman Law.

From October 1861 to September 1863 and between September 1865 and January 1867 he worked as dean, from September 1863 to March 1865, from January 1867 to July 1871 and from February 1878 to October 1878 he was Vice Rector and finally from March 23 to 27 September 1865 Rector of St. Vladimir University.

In April 1869 he was appointed the first director of the Demidov Legal Lyceum ( Russian Демидовский юридический лицей ) in Yaroslavl . After he had succeeded in inviting several respected professors to teach at the Lyceum, he went back to Kiev St. Vladimir University in 1870 and received the title of Honored Full Professor of the Department of Roman Law there in October 1871. In 1877 Mityukov became a co-founder of the University's Legal Society. He died at the age of 61 in Kiev and was buried in the Shchekavytske cemetery ( Щекавицьке кладовище ) above Podil .
