Kalne

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kalne ( Hebrew כַּלְנֵה) is a city in the Bible. It is mentioned by Isa 10.9  ELB in the context of the prophecies against Assur : “Isn't Kalne like Carchemish , Hamath like Arpad, Samaria not like Damascus ?” Amos (6.2 ELB ) also mentions the destruction of Kalne: “Go over to Kalne and see! And from there go to Hamath the great, and go down to Gath the Philistines . Are they better than these kingdoms, or is their territory larger than your territory? ”Pfeiffer discusses the dating of this passage; it could have been inserted afterwards.

Albright, on the other hand, interprets the Chalne in Shinar ( 1 Mos 10,10  ELB ) Nimrod as a misreading of kullani 'all of them'.

Kalne is often identified with Kullani / Kulnia in Unqi . I. Yellow identified Kullani with Kullanköy at Arpad , here Tomkins, Dussaud and Albright followed him.
