Calvary in Memmenhausen

The Kalvarienberg in Memmenhausen , a district of the municipality of Aichen in the Swabian district of Günzburg in Bavaria , was built in 1871. The Calvary was entered as a protected architectural monument in the list of architectural monuments in Aichen .

As early as 1750, a calvary was built with the veneration of the seven wounds of Christ. The current, newly built Calvary consists of thirteen wayside shrines and a chapel .

The wayside shrines with crenellated gables and niches are arranged around an oval, sloping square, to which an avenue of lime trees leads . They lead to the highest point of the complex, where the chapel stands.

The stations of the cross painted on sheet metal are inserted in the rectangular niches . They come from Joseph Mangold from Unterpeißenberg .
