Kamag transport technology (short Kamag, proper spelling KAMAG) is a German company with headquarters in Ulm , Baden-Wurttemberg . For example, it specializes in the manufacture of industrial vehicles, modular transporters and vehicles for terminal logistics . Kamag is part of Transporter Industry International (TII for short).

history

In 1969 the entrepreneur Franz Xaver Kögel and the engineer Karl Weinmann founded the Karlsdorfer Maschinenbau Gesellschaft (Kamag for short). Their business idea was to shift heavy transports to the road in order to enable more flexible processes and to cope with higher loads. The first products included special vehicles for steelworks and shipyards. The company developed successfully so that in 1971 it had to move into larger rooms in Ulm.

Kamag (along with Innova) became one of the most important business areas of the Kögel vehicle works . In 1991, the owners put some of the parent company's preference shares on the stock exchange to finance international expansion, among other things. In the further course of the 1990s, Kamag made a decisive contribution to the positive development of the entire group of companies. Therefore, Kögel Fahrzeugwerke's insolvency in 2004 did not immediately affect the company. As a result, however, a sale came up.

In the bidding process for Kamag, the Heilbronn entrepreneur Otto Rettenmaier prevailed. This brought the company together with Scheuerle Fahrzeugfabrik and Nicolas Industrie ( Auxerre , F) under the umbrella of the Transporter Industry International holding. The group of companies covers the entire range of heavy goods transport.
