The camera offices in the Kingdom of Württemberg administered the property and income of the state and fulfilled the obligations based on them. They were created from 1806 to reorganize the state finance administration in a uniform manner.

history

The financial system of the Kingdom of Württemberg was fundamentally reorganized as a result of the restructuring of the state economy by King Friedrich in 1806. The former cellars , administrators, carers , monastery administrators and rent officials were combined to form a separate authority through a combination of offices . The original name was camera occupation. From the year 1807 the designation camera office was introduced.

87 camera offices were created. By decree of April 25, 1807 and April 26, 1808, they were placed as independent sub-authorities of the state finance administration to the side of the higher offices . The camera offices administered the state property: dairy farms , individual goods and fish water, tithe and other landed rights. By general ordinance of May 10, 1807, the camera offices were also given the management of all tax-related business.

In 1817 the camera offices were subordinated to the district tax chambers. By ordinance of June 4, 1819, their tasks were reorganized and their number was set at 79. As authorities of the domanial , building and forest administration , they were responsible for the property and the income of the state. At the same time they became the district treasury for each Oberamt and gradually developed into the district tax office. In the course of the 19th century, the field of activity and the number of camera offices changed frequently.

As a result of the tithe replacement laws enacted in 1848/49, the abolition of the basic burdens and the transition from the natural economy to the money economy, the camera offices were relieved and partly dissolved.

By order of January 24, 1895, the districts of the camera office were put on an equal footing with the districts of the higher office.
