Kane is an impact crater on the northeastern edge of the front of the moon on the edge of Mare Frigoris between the craters C. Mayer in the west and Democritus in the east. The crater walls are eroded and the interior is flooded by the Mare Frigoris.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the American explorer Elisha Kent Kane .
