Kaneko Yobun

Kaneko Yōbun ( Japanese 金子 洋文 , civil: Kaneko Yoshitarō ( 金子 吉太郎 ); born April 8, 1893 in Akita , Akita Prefecture ; † March 21, 1985 ) was a Japanese writer and a member of the Socialist Party of Japan .

Life

Kaneko Yōbun published the socialist literary magazine Tanemakuhito in 1921 . He became known through the novel Jigoku ( 地獄 , "Hell"), with which he is committed to emancipation, and through his collection of dramas Nakesuteru yubiwa . In 1924 he published the first issue of the magazine Bungei Sensen ( 文藝 戦 線 ), the successor to Tanemakuhito.

After the war he worked in 1947 as a member of the socialist party in the Japanese upper house . He later wrote commissioned plays and was a member of the Kabuki committee of the Shōchiku film company . He was also co-editor of Geki to hyōron ( 劇 と 評論 ).
