Kangersittuaq [ kaˌŋɜˈsːitːuɑ (q) ] (according to the old spelling Kangersigtuaĸ ) is a desolate Greenlandic settlement in the district of Ittoqqortoormiit in the municipality of Sermersooq .
location
Kangersittuaq is located at the very end of Kangertittivaq on the southern tip of a peninsula west of Jamesonland . Ittoqqortoormiit is 146 km southeast.
history
Kangersittuaq is the most remote residential area in the district and was the northernmost settlement in East Greenland. The place was founded in 1947 as the last of the five places to live. In the first year 36 people lived there. In 1950 there were 32. In 1954, 17 people were still living in Kangersittuaq, which was abandoned in the same year.
