Kaningi (also Bakanike and Lekaningi) is a Bantu language and is spoken by around 6000 people in Gabon (1990 census).

It is widespread in the province of Haut-Ogooué south of Franceville in several villages, each surrounded by different language communities.

classification

Kaningi is a Northwest Bantu language and belongs to the Mbere group , which is classified as Guthrie Zone B60.
