Kanna (era)

Kanna ( Japanese 寛 和 , also Kanwa) is a Japanese era ( Nengō ) from May 985 to May 987 according to the Gregorian calendar . The previous era name is Eikan , the following era is called Eien . The era falls during the reign of the emperors ( Tennō ) Kazan and Ichijō .

The first day of the Kanna era corresponds to May 19, 985, and the last day was May 4, 987. The Kanna era lasted three years or 716 days.

  • 985 The monk Genshin completes the Ōjōyōshū and thus lays the foundations for amidism
  • 985 The Satake-ji is built
  • 986 Kanna Incident ( 寛 和 の 変 Kanna no hen ) - Fujiwara no Kaneie plans the removal of Tennō Kazan
