The canton of Nienover existed from 1807 to 1813 in the Göttingen district ( Department of Leine , Kingdom of Westphalia ) and was formed by the Royal Decree of December 24, 1807. The canton was affected by the restructuring of the district to finalize the status of the communes in the department of the Leine on June 16, 1809. The municipalities of Wahmbeck and Würrigsen were added from the canton of Bodenfelde , the municipality of Sohlingen was split off and the canton was reorganized as shown below.
