Göttingen district
The Göttingen district was an administrative unit in the Leine department in the Kingdom of Westphalia . It was formed by the Royal Decree of December 24, 1807 and existed until 1813.
territory
The district consisted for the most part of the former Hanoverian principality of Göttingen with the Kurhessian rule of Plesse and some places south of the Werra. It bordered south on the Einbeck district . In the east the district bordered the Harz districts of Heiligenstadt and Duderstadt and in the northeast on the Oker department . In the south it was partially limited by the Werra, the Fuldadepartement and the Höxter district .
When it was established by the Royal Decree of Hieronymus Napoleon, 75,025 people in 158 communities lived in this district . The total area of the district was 25.11 sq mi . After the territorial changes of 1810, 83,416 people lived there in 25.11 square miles . 2.84% of the population were Catholic, 9.6% Reformed and 86.4% Lutheran.

The district was headed by a sub-prefect . The sub-prefect of the Göttingen district was also the chief prefect of the department.
The district council to control the tax lists was formed by the Maires von Northeim and Hardegsen Christiani and Koch, a Freiherr von Schnehen, the nobles August Otto von Grote and von Götz, Messrs. Ludewig, Murray, Ransen, Seebach and Gleim.
