Wahmbeck is a town in the borough Bodenfelde in the district of Northeim , Lower Saxony ( Germany ).

In the village Wahmbeck, located on a Gemarkungs area covers approximately 5.98 square kilometers area, live 683 inhabitants , making it the borough of the same name by Bodenfelde the second largest town.

Wahmbeck is located in southern Lower Saxony on the southern foothills of the Solling in the Upper Wesertal . The core town of Bodenfelde is around 2.5 km to the east, Bad Karlshafen around 5 km to the west, the district town of Northeim around 32 km east-northeast (distances as the crow flies ).

Wahmbeck, located directly on the right or north bank of the Weser , is around 105  m above sea level. NN . The mountains near the village include the Hilkenberg ( 183  m ) with the adjoining Wahmbecker Strand ( 186  m ) in the northwest, the Kahlberg ( 224.7  m ) in the northeast and the Kuhläger Kopf ( 290.5  m ) on the other side of the Weser ) in the south East.

history

Wahmbeck was first mentioned in a document in 1031. Since March 1, 1974, the formerly independent municipality has been part of the Bodenfelde unified municipality, which was newly created as part of the municipal territorial reform.

Until the end of 2010, Wahmbeck was a state-approved resort .

From Bodenfelde north around the Kahlberg the district road  447 and a side road leading along the Weser to Wahmbeck, both of which end on the Weser. Here there is a Gierseilferry that operates in the summer half-year and crosses the river in a southerly direction to Bundesstraße 80 near Gewissenruh .

The place had a train station on the Solling Railway, but it has been closed for many years. The next regional train stations are in Bodenfelde and Bad Karlshafen .

Economy and tourism

The Agriculture no longer plays in Wahmbeck now a role; there are also no industrial plants in the village.

In the quietly located former resort there are several guest beds in inns and a holiday apartment as well as a family-run hotel available to tourists .
