Pulpit in Hondschoote

The pulpit in the Catholic Church of St-Vaast in Hondschoote , a French commune in the Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region , was created in 1755 by Jean Elschoocq and Joseph Roose. The oak pulpit was added to the list of listed buildings ( Base Palissy ) in France in 1934 as Monument historique .

The pulpit was a gift from Jacques Josse Coppens, the landlord of Hondschoote. The coat of arms of the donor is attached to the sound cover.

The evangelists are depicted on the pulpit . On the back wall is a relief of the church patron St. Vaast as a bishop with his attribute , a predator's head.

The figure of John the Baptist on the base was added in 1863.
