The Cape Boggs is a massive and icy headland on the eastern foothills of Eielson Peninsula in the east of Palmer Lands . It marks the border between the Black Coast and the Wilkins Coast to the north .
The cape was discovered by scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941), who explored the area on land and from the air in 1940. It is named after Samuel Whittemore Boggs (1889–1954), a geographer for the US State Department , whose political and geographic studies of Antarctica were used by the USAS.
