Cape Bruce is the northern headland of a small island off the Mawson coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . The island lies on the east side of Oom Bay and is separated from the mainland mass immediately west of the Taylor Glacier by a small channel .
Participants of the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929-1931) led by the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson landed here on February 18, 1931. Mawson named the Cape after the Australian politician Stanley Bruce (1883-1964), from 1923 to 1929 Prime Minister of his country.
