The Oom Bay is a well-defined and 3 km wide bay on the coast Mawson of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Lands . It lies between Cape Bruce and Campbell Head .
Participants in the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929-1931) under the direction of the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson discovered the bay in February 1931. Mawson named it after Lieutenant Karl Erik Oom (1904-1972), the cartographer of this research trip .
