Cape Charlotte is a cape near the eastern end of South Georgia . It is located on the southeast side of the entrance to Royal Bay .
The British navigator and explorer James Cook discovered the Cape in 1775 as part of his second South Sea voyage (1772–1775). He named it after the British monarch Charlotte (1744-1818), wife of King George III.
