Cape Close is a cape on the coast of the Enderbyland in East Antarctica . It is located around 50 km west of Cape Batterbee .
It was discovered in January 1930 by participants in the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929–1930) led by the Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . He named the cape after the British geographer Charles Close (1865–1952), President of the Royal Geographical Society from 1927 to 1930.
