The Cape Lisburne is a cape on the west coast of Alaska in the northwest of the Lisburne Peninsula , 65 km northeast of Point Hope . It is part of the Chukchi Sea unit of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge .
The headland was named on August 21, 1778 by James Cook . The Inupiat used the name "Uivaq". Cape Lisburne was often referred to as Uivaq Ungasiktoq ("Cape Far Away "), while Uivaq Qanitoq ("Cape Close by") was used for Cape Thompson .
