The Hemmelmarker See (Danish: Himmelmark Sø ) is located in the Schwansen landscape near the Hemmelmark estate in the municipality of Barkelsby in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district . The lake has an area of 82 ha, a maximum depth of 6.2 meters and a shore length of 4.2 km. The lake is completely separated from the offshore Baltic Sea ( Eckernförde Bay ). At the western end of the lake is the Hemmelmark estate; east of the lake was the place Sophienruhe until the 20th century .
