The Cytec Solvay Group is a successor company to American Cyanamid . The chemical company has been a subsidiary of Solvay since the end of 2015 .
In 1991 the chemical business (excluding pesticides and pharmaceuticals) of American Cyanamid was concentrated in a new business unit. At the end of 1993, the spin-off followed as Cytec Industries under the new CEO Darryl D. Fry.
In 2012, the synthetic resin coatings division was sold to Advent International . Today it operates under the name Allnex . In mid-2015, Solvay announced the acquisition of Cytec for $ 5.5 billion.
Cytec has a strong market position in mining chemicals (especially for flotation and flocculation ) as well as in adhesives and carbon fibers for aircraft construction.
