Cape Melville is the eastern cape of King George Island in the South Shetland archipelago . It's at the end of the Melville Peninsula .
In earlier maps, the name was given to the northeastern cape of King George Island, now known as North Foreland . The name of the local headland goes back to the British navigator Edward Bransfield around 1820, when he was exploring the South Shetland Islands. It is named after Robert Dundas, 2nd Viscount Melville (1771-1851), then First Lord of the Admiralty .
The Livonia Rock lies 800 m south of Cape Melville .
