The Cape Sibbald is a cliff-like cape on the Borchgrevink Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It marks the southwestern extension of the Mountaineer Range in the confluence of the Aviator Glacier in the southwestern end of Lady Newnes Bay .
It was discovered in February 1841 by the British navigator James Clark Ross during his Antarctic expedition (1839–1843). Ross named it after Lieutenant John James A. Sibbald (1809–1868), officer on board the HMS Erebus on this research trip .
