History and architecture
A previous chapel is mentioned as Mother of God to Dörnschlade , the place of pilgrimage is mentioned in a document from 1414. Even before the Thirty Years' War there was a saint's house on Dörnschlade, but no later than 1669, the Hünsborn baptismal register refers to a chapel in this area. In 1729, the responsible parish archive also mentions a “repair of the Capelgens on the Dörnschlade”.
Today's chapel was built from 1862 to 1864 according to plans by Vincenz Statz together with the associated hermitage on a ridge. It is accessed through an open vestibule. The neo-Gothic hall with two bays closes on three sides, the walls are divided by buttresses . The neo-Gothic winged altar shows a copy of the late Gothic miraculous image in the extract .
