Luigi Mainolfi

Luigi Mainolfi (born February 16, 1948 in Rotondi ) is an Italian sculptor and graphic artist .

life and work

Mainolfi was born in Rotondi in Campania in 1948 . He studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli and moved to Turin in northern Italy in 1973 , where several artists from Arte Povera were based.

Luigi Mainolfi's sculptures are made of natural materials such as clay, plaster, wood, tuff , bronze and marble. Some works seem to depict characters from fairy tales or myths.

In the park of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sapporo , Japan , Mainolfi is installing the works Mainolfi swims in the water of Hokkaido and Columns of Sapporo .
