Il Giardino

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Il Giardino (officially: Fondazione "Il Giardino di Daniel Spoerri - Hic Terminus Haeret" ) is the name of a sculpture garden near Seggiano , around 80 km south of Siena in Tuscany . The 16 hectare area was acquired by the Swiss artist Daniel Spoerri in the early 1990s and opened to the public as a foundation in 1997. Barbara Räderscheidt is president of the foundation, the artist and curator Susanne Neumann is vice-president.

Since then, Spoerri has invited around 40 artists to create sculptures for his garden or to exhibit them there.
