Martin Schwarz is a versatile artist and wanderer between the art, everyday, relationship and media worlds. He is a very sensitive and a very watchful person, open to all concerns, regardless of whether it is about nature, the man-made environment, small episodes or world events. For many years, Schwarz has been creating new art worlds in a multi-faceted manner and linking the reality of the here and now with its fantasy worlds. It often requires intensive observation in order to grasp the diversity and the rationale of his works of art in their entirety. The artist has worked with Oscar winner HR Giger since 1982 and has designed several exhibitions with him.

Schwarz has been married since 1992 and has two children. He runs the EigenArt publishing house, lives in Winterthur and Bartenstein .

Art zoo exhibitions in Schrozberg Castle

The "art zoo" is a collection of pictures, objects and prints that revolve around the theme: "The animal in art". It represents the artistic spectrum of the Swiss artist. The main theme is the mysterious nature of the animal. The observer of the art objects is invited to experience the animal representations between mythical creatures, threatening counterparts, scientific phenomena and beloved cuddly toys. Schwarz integrated everything into alienated books, "often animals or parts of them". The head of a chamois protrudes from one book, another rests on the legs of a deer. An ermine appears from a torn book. Animal antlers grow from flower pots and handbags, bears shred books. Reading people enter into metamorphoses with the book theme and landscape in the course of picture cycles. In terms of design, he deals with artists such as Picasso, Modigliani, Feininger, Cezanne and many others and transforms their works in an extremely subtle way. The exhibition also includes works by other artists selected by Schwarz who deal with the animal in an interesting, sometimes tense context. So you can also see the original "Alien" representations of its creator and Oscar winner HR Gieger. The artist is constantly expanding the permanent exhibition in Schrozberg Castle.
