Altenhof is a district of the municipality of Wenden in the Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

geography

The place is about four kilometers east of Wenden within the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park . The L 714 runs through the village . Altenhof is also located in the valley of the Altenhofer Bach and the Wende valley. Neighboring places are Hünsborn , Girkhausen , Osthelden, Schönau and Wenden.

history

In 1536 Altenhof belonged to the court of Wenden. Early clues about the size of the place can be found in an appraisal register (used to collect taxes) for the year 1543. According to this, there were 17 “Aldenhoffen” people in Altenhof at that time. The number should have agreed with the courtyards or houses that existed at the time.

St. Mary's Church

The listed chapel Dörnschlade is located in a wooded area on the outskirts of Altenhof. The famous pilgrimage site Dörnschlade is looked after by a hermit. The present chapel was built between 1862 and 1864.

The St. Marien Church in Altenhof was built between 1963 and 1964 and was consecrated on December 19, 1964.

Sports

The sports club FC Altenhof, founded for the first time in 1930, played from 1956 to 1963 in what was then the fourth-highest league. After several relegations, the club dissolved and in 1970 merged with SV Schönau and SV Wenden to form VSV Wenden 1930. In 1977, FC Altenhof was re-established. After the restart in the 3rd district class, they rose within the first two years to the district league A, in which they played until 1990. From 1990-1991, 1996-2011 and 2014-2015 the club played in the district league. In 2015 the club became champions in the district league and was promoted to the Landesliga Süd Group 2.

economy

The largest resident company is Muhr Metalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG. The automotive supplier and radiator manufacturer employs around 150 people.
