Hillmicke is a district of the municipality Wenden in the southern Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ), and belongs to the Olpe district.

geography

The place is located about seven kilometers west of Wenden directly on the federal motorway 4 in the immediate vicinity of the Olpe-Süd motorway junction (A4 / A45) within the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature reserve . In addition, the village is located between the Hillmicke of the same name to the north, the Bigge that runs to the east and the Hakemicke that runs south through the village. The Hillmicke and Hakemicke streams rise west of Hillmicke. According to legend, the original location was in the Hillmickebach valley, burned down at an unknown time, and then relocated to the neighboring Hakemicketal. Legends that this happened in the 30 Years War have not yet been proven, although possible.

Neighboring places are Gerlingen, Wendenerhütte , Brün , Büchen , Huppen and Schwarzbruch .

Most of the Hillmicke is located in the Steinkuhle and Hillmickebach nature reserve .

history

In 1536 Hillmicke belonged to the court of Wenden. Early clues about the size of the place can be found in an appraisal register (used to collect taxes) for the year 1543. According to this, there were 18 “Hilmicken” people in Hillmicke at that time .; the number should have agreed with the farms or houses that existed at the time.

religion

The first chapel was built in Hillmicke in 1742. The church was destroyed by fire 15 years later and then rebuilt. In 1919 the congregation received permission to also celebrate Sunday services. A new church was then added to the listed chapel. On December 8, 1928, the St. Anthony Church was consecrated.
