History of origin

In 1996 the A-church musician positions at the town church and the Luther church in Bad Cannstatt were merged, the choirs at both churches were united under the name "Cannstatter Kantorei". For the Bach Year 2000 it was renamed “Bachchor Stuttgart” after there had been a Bach choir in Stuttgart from 1940 to 1955 under the direction of Erich Ade . In 1996, around 40 singers took part in the town and Luther church of Bad Cannstatt; today the choir consists of 80 active singers.
The sponsorship lies with the Evangelical General Church Community Bad Cannstatt; the Stuttgart Bach Choir is a member of the Association of German Concert Choirs .
