The Roman Catholic chapel Maria Hilf is in the district Jennen the municipality of Dornbirn in Dornbirn in Vorarlberg . It is consecrated to the Mother of God and belongs to the parish Dornbirn-Haselstauden and thus to the dean's office in Dornbirn in the diocese of Feldkirch . The building from 1857 is a listed building .

history

The chapel built in 1857 replaced a smaller, older building. The initiator for the construction was Abbot Franz Pfanner , who worked in Dornbirn-Haselstauden from 1850 to 1858. The first mass was celebrated on November 25, 1858. In 1949 the bell (from 1780), which had previously been delivered in 1942 due to the war, was re-cast by the Grassmayr company in Innsbruck .

The chapel was renovated in 1900, 1975 and 2013/2014.

Church building

Exterior description

It is a building with a rectangular basic shape and south-east / north-west orientation. To the southeast (altar) the outer walls are rounded. The simple wooden door and the bell ridge on the gable roof with an octagonal pointed helmet are to the northwest. On the Gospel side there is an attached sacristy .

Inside description

The prayer room has a flat ceiling and a drawn-in choir wall. The rectangular chancel also has a flat roof.

Furnishing

The interior of the chapel is deliberately designed to be simple and the previously existing side altars were removed during the renovation in 1975 and the high altar was replaced by a people's altar. The altarpiece shows the half-length of St. Mary with the child. This is a free copy after Raffael , which was painted by Luise Rick before she entered the monastery in Walzenhausen . Where the right side altar used to be, there is now a baroque statue of Joseph.

Bearing costs

The costs for construction and maintenance are generally borne by the surrounding plots and lots .
