The Roman Catholic chapel is located in Westerhart , Upper Swabia , a district of Buxheim , in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ). The chapel is a listed building .

History and description of the building

The first chapel in Westerhart was presumably consecrated in 1829. This building was demolished in 1928 and rebuilt on the existing site. The shape of the chapel was retained. The chapel is a simple rectangular building with two window axes. The chapel is covered with a gable roof . Inside there is a barrel vault with stitch caps . A timber-framed annex is on the south side of the chapel. A dungeon Christ is housed in this extension, which is covered with a hipped roof. A roof turret with sound holes is placed over the gable. It is covered with a sheet metal hood.

Interior

Two paintings from the second quarter of the 18th century depicting St. Judas Thaddäus and St. Barbara are in the chapel. The Way of the Cross consisting of fourteen small medallions dates from the middle of the 18th century. There are several wooden figures in the chapel. The larger than life Christ in the dungeon is from the first half of the 19th century. Around 1770 the figures of St. John and Our Lady of Sorrows. The representations of St. Joseph and St. Willibold date from the middle of the 18th century. The crucifix was probably made at the beginning of the 19th century.
