It is consecrated to the Mother of God and belongs to the parish church of St. Martin and thus to the dean's office in Dornbirn in the diocese of Feldkirch . The building from 1907 is a listed building ( list entry ). The chapel ( 452  m above sea level ) is about 1.3 km as the crow flies from the city center of Dornbirn.

history

The chapel was built between 1906–1907 by the Vorderachmühle - Gechelbach chapel community and is still looked after and maintained by them today. The chapel is preceded by a previous building, which was built in 1734 near the current location. The plan for the chapel was drawn up by the Dornbirn master builder Josef Anton Fußenegger († 1907) and the master builder work was also carried out.

The consecration took place on Whit Monday in 1907, in 1949 the chapel was granted the license to perform and the sacristy was added in 1955.

Church building

It is a building with an approximately rectangular basic shape and south-west / north-east orientation and 3/4 choir with a stitch cap vault. The outer walls are sloping to the southwest (altar). The simple wooden door and the bell ridge on the gable roof with a square pointed helmet are located to the southeast. The gable roof is covered with Eternit roof shingles. The attached sacristy is located to the northwest and has direct access to the chancel and its own entrance from the outside.

The prayer room has a barrel vault and a retracted choir wall with a crucifix in the middle . There are arched windows in the facade and a rose window above the door.

Furnishing

The pews made of lacquered fir wood are kept very simple. The Stations of the Cross are artistic pencil drawings with a wooden border. The chapel only has a simple, whitewashed altar wall with a Pietà from 1907 by Reich (Dornbirn), in front of which there is a massive wooden altar. Next to the retracted choir arch are statues depicting St. Anna with Maria and on the right St. Representing Joseph (both early 20th century). The glass paintings on the windows in the chancel are by J.Schnitzler Glasmalerei from Dornbirn and show St. Augustine, on the right St. Wendelin.

The straight gallery with the staircase on the left was only moved in later and now partially covers two arched windows.

At the entrance there is a dominant painting by Johann Martin Ulmer from 1734, which depicts the Adoration of the Magi and which was the altarpiece in the previous chapel.

Specialty

There is a mini golf course directly behind the chapel . The Müllerbach flows about 10 m away, but has since been piped up.
