The chapel of St. Blasius to the 14 helpers in need , also known as “Chapel of Emergency” or “Chapel of St. Blasius ”is a Roman Catholic chapel in the village of Paznaun in the municipality of Ischgl in Tyrol. The baroque chapel is a listed building .

history

It bears the patronage of Saint Blasius von Sebaste , emergency helper and patron saint of cattle - since no grain cultivation was possible in the Paznaun Valley, they specialized in young cattle breeding , which was exchanged for duty-free imported grain and maize. The altarpiece shows the fourteen helpers in need , hence the name Blasius for the helpers in need .

The first chapel was probably built in 1675, damaged by a flood in 1762 and destroyed in the great flood in 1764. In 1765 it was rebuilt in a higher location.

The hamlet of Paznaun was probably built around the new Fourteen Helpers Chapel in the late 18th century.
