The Roman Catholic Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows is located in the Oberpfälzer Markt Luhe-Wildenau (Regensburger Straße 29) on the outskirts of Wernberg-Köblitz .

history

A chapel was built here for the first time in 1711, which was a little smaller than today's chapel. A storm destroyed this building in 1856.

A legend has grown up around the chapel: In Feistelberg , a child injured his eyes with unslazed lime, so that the doctor in Luhe feared for the child's eyesight. When the mother was on the way home with the child, she complained to Our Lady of Sorrows of her suffering. Suddenly the child is said to have asked, "What kind of man has this woman on her lap", so it could see again. A guardian Christian is said to have remembered this miracle as a votive offering from the parents.

After it collapsed, the rebuilding of the chapel in neo-Gothic style began in 1858 and was rebuilt in 1863. The chapel was consecrated on September 23, 1864. Today the chapel is a hall with a gable roof and a drawn-in choir closed on five sides . The chapel has a gable decorated with a cross with a bell.

Interior

In the chapel there is a wood-carved Pietà from the 17th century, which was already in the previous building. A second sandstone Pietà was purchased in 1727. It is placed outside the chapel in an aedicule in a shell niche. Water used to flow from the Savior's chest wound until the water pipe fell into disrepair. The plan for the altar was made by the Amberg sculptor Hösl, who also renovated the Pietà.
