history

The name Kapitelwerder or -holz comes from the fact that the area belonged to the cathedral chapter . For the time around 1600 Joachim Schnauke has been handed down as forest manager . It is also known that Schnauke was in deep hostility to the forester of the northern Praepositurholzes, Moritz Sangerhausen , and that there were ongoing disputes between the two administrators . Schnauke died around 1631. Initially, Moritz Sangerhausen, based in the Kuhlenhagen forester's house, also took over the management of Kapitelholz, until he died in 1632 as well. He was succeeded by the forester Peter Voigt .

The stock of Kapitelholz trees was probably cut down in the course of the reconstruction of nearby Magdeburg after the city was destroyed in 1631 .

In May 2016 , two skeletonized calves were found on a pasture near two country lanes, about halfway between Sonnensee and Schwarzer Krüger . The attack by wolves was suspected to be the cause of death .
