The Capuchin Hospice Pforzheim is a branch of the Capuchin Order in the city of Pforzheim . It was founded in 1636. The provincial chapter of the Swiss Capuchin Province in Schwyz refused in 1646 the approval of permanent settlement in the city.

history

After Tilly's victory in the Battle of Wimpfen , Pforzheim fell to Maximilian I of Bavaria . His administrator Belligshofer, who was appointed in Pforzheim, was close to the Capuchin Order. Probably at his suggestion, capuchins were requested to exercise pastoral care.

Foundation and task

At the provincial chapter of the Swiss Capuchin Province in Bremgarten from 22nd to 27th August 1637, at the request of Friederich von Lichtenstein, a settlement of the order in Pforzheim was approved. The pulpit of the Protestant city from 1551 was taken over by P. Fulgentius Müller. In 1641 the Capuchins had to leave Pforzheim temporarily until 1643. In August 1644, after the city was taken by a Franco-Swedish army under Louis II. De Bourbon, prince de Condé , they were expelled again. They returned in October after Johann von Werth's relief . Permanent approval of the branch in Pforzheim was refused at the provincial chapter in Schwyz, which took place from October 19-25, 1646 in Schwyz. The Capuchin monks left Pforzheim the following year.
