Karanja Lad , also Karanja , is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra .
The city is part of the Washim District . Karanja Lad has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 27 wards . It had a total of 67,907 inhabitants on the cut-off date of the 2011 census, of which 34,703 were men and 33,204 women. Muslims form the largest population group in the city with a share of over 49%, followed by Hindus with 39% and Buddhists with 6%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 88.71%, well above the national average.
