Karfi ( Greek Καρφί = nail ) is a 1117 m high elevation of the Selena Mountains . The prominent cliff is visible from afar and the summit drops steeply to the north, west and south. In the east, however, the terrain slopes only moderately and rises again to the Mikri Koprana , a peak only 170 m further east. From the eastern slope of the Karfi to the western slope of the Mikri Koprana stretched a late Minoan hilltop settlement, which is named after the mountain Karphi .

Ano Kera is located about 1 km west of the Karfi . A little further north, also about 1 km away, is the Kera Kardiotissa monastery . A little further south, about 800 m away, is Homo Sapiens Village with some restored windmills. About 400 m southeast of the Karfi rises the summit of Megali Koprana and about 1 km east is the Nisimos plateau .

There are numerous hiking trails on the Karfi. From Tzermiado you can climb the summit via the Nisimos plateau or an old donkey path. Other starting points are Lagou , Homo Sapiens Village , Ano Kera and Krasi .
