Karin-Simone Fuhs

Karin-Simone Fuhs (* 1968 in Leverkusen ) is a German designer and professor for sustainable design at the Alanus University for Art and Society in Alfter near Bonn .

Live and act

Karin-Simone Fuhs grew up in Cairo ( Egypt ). After studying design at the TH Köln , she founded the ecosign / Academy for Design in Cologne in 1994. The academy trains designers with a special focus on sustainability and, in cooperation with the Alanus University for Art and Society in Alfter, offers Germany's first Bachelor's degree in "Sustainable Design".

In 2013 Fuhs was appointed full professor in the fine arts department at Alanus University. Her teaching and research focus there is in the field of sustainable design. In the same year Fuhs was (co-) editor of the work “The History of Sustainable Design”.

Memberships

Fuhs is a member of the advisory board for the Federal Ecodesign Award, co-founder of the Association of Sustainable Companies "same in green eV" and a jury member of numerous awards in the fields of design (e.g. Red Dot Award, Jameson Award, Dyson Award) and sustainability (e.g. . Efficiency Prize NRW).

Awards

Fuhs has received the Utopia Award in the “Role Models” category and the nawi Award in the “Personalities” category for sustainable management in medium-sized companies.
