Karl-Christian Schelzke

Karl-Christian Schelzke (born May 29, 1950 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German local and state politician (SPD) and was mayor of the city of Mühlheim am Main from 1992 to 1999 . From 1999 to 2020 Schelzke was Managing Director of the Hessian Association of Towns and Municipalities in Mühlheim am Main.

Life

Schelzke obtained his university entrance qualification in 1969. After graduating from high school, he studied law and political science in Frankfurt am Main and Giessen from 1969 to 1975 . After the second state examination in law, after working as a criminal defense lawyer in Wetzlar, in 1977 he joined the Hessian judicial service as a public prosecutor in his native Frankfurt. From 1978 to 1986 he worked as a public prosecutor in Frankfurt and part-time as a lecturer at the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences. In 1986 he became head of department in the Hessian Ministry of Justiceand promoted to senior public prosecutor in 1989. Schelzke has u. a. in the Ministry of Justice developed the basis for the establishment of the State Prevention Council of Hesse . In 2002 he graduated from the Distance University in Hagen with a very good degree in mediation. Since then, he has also acted as a moderator in citizens' meetings and discussions on mission statements.

In 1991 he was elected mayor of the city of Mühlheim am Main. After re-election in 1997, he moved to the Hessian Association of Towns and Municipalities in 1999. Schelzke has been managing director of the local authority association since July 1, 1999.

Schelzke is married to Marita Immel-Schelzke, a judge at the Hessian State Social Court . The couple has a daughter who works as a lawyer, Ricarda Christine Schelzke.
