Karl-Friedrich Zais (born October 19, 1951 in Stollberg ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From 1999 to 2014 he was a member of the Saxon State Parliament .

Life

Karl-Friedrich Zais did his Abitur from 1968 to 1970 with an apprenticeship as an electrical machine builder. He studied electrical automation technology from 1971 to 1974. He worked from 1974 to 1983 as a designer and was 1983-1987 deputy party secretary or 1988-1989 Party secretary of the SED of Fritz Heckert - regular operation in Karl-Marx-Stadt . In 1987/88 he graduated from the Academy of Social Sciences in Moscow .

After reunification , he worked as a sales engineer and works council from 1990 to 1999. As a trade unionist, he is a member of IG Metall in Chemnitz.

Karl-Friedrich Zais was a member of the SED (later PDS or Die Linke). Within his party, he was city chairman of the PDS Chemnitz from 1999 to 2006 and has been a member of the Saxon state association Die Linke since 2006.

In October 1999 he moved into the Saxon state parliament. There he was a member of the Committee on Economy, Labor and Transport and the Committee on Environment and Agriculture. He was also the economic policy spokesman for his group. He represented the constituency of Chemnitz 4 in the state parliament. In the state elections in 2009 , he won one of the two direct mandates for Die Linke with a 33.7% share of the vote, all the others went to the CDU .
