Karl-Heinz Rode

Karl-Heinz Rode (* 1947 ) is a former German diplomat who was last ambassador to Honduras from 2010 to 2012 .

biography

After graduating from high school , he studied economics at the Philipps University of Marburg .

In 1976 he entered the diplomatic service and, after completing his training as an attaché in 1978, was initially employed at the Foreign Office in Bonn and then from 1980 to 1983 at the Consulate General in São Paulo . After another job at the embassy in Mexico , he returned to the headquarters of the Foreign Office in 1986. He then worked at the Embassy in Spain from 1989 to 1992 before returning to a position within the Federal Foreign Ministry. Between 1997 and 2000 he worked at the embassy in Peru and after a position in the Foreign Office later at the embassy in Austria from 2003 to 2006 . He was then appointed head of the Germany Center in Mexico.

Since February 24, 2010, Karl-Heinz Rode was the successor of Paul Albert Resch as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Honduras . He held this office until his retirement at the end of July 2012. He was succeeded as ambassador in September 2012 by Johannes Trommer , who previously acted as permanent representative of the ambassador in Denmark .
