Karl-Heinz Schlote (born April 4, 1949 in Zeitz ) is a German science historian who deals in particular with the history of mathematics.

Karl-Heinz Schlote studied mathematics at the University of Leipzig from 1967 to 1972 . From 1974 he was a research assistant at the Karl Sudhoff Institute for the History of Medicine and Natural Sciences at the University of Leipzig under Hans Wußing . There he did his doctorate under Gerd Lassner with the dissertation: On the cohomology theory of topological algebras and was also habilitated there. After the reunification he worked at the Saxon Academy of Sciences.

He was the editor of a comprehensive Chronology of Natural Sciences published in 2002 and co-author and co-editor of a mathematicians' dictionary (1990). At the Saxon Academy of Sciences, he also led a project on the links between mathematics and physics at the universities of Leipzig, Jena and Halle-Wittenberg, which resulted in several monographs. Karl-Heinz Schlote has been a research assistant at the University of Hildesheim since the 2011/12 winter semester .

He is a corresponding member of the International Academy of the History of Sciences.
